Head to nearby Aliso and Wood Canyons in search of feathered friends flying or perching in the Aliso Creek area – the best riparian birding spot in Orange County. This easy to moderate 3-mile walk typically lasts for 2 1/2 hours. It is free to the public, but there is a $3 parking fee. Local Laguna Canyon Foundation (LCF) volunteers lead these walks, including Tom Eastman, who’s been an LCF guide for 14 years. Here, he describes what to expect while hitting the trails to look for birds. By the end of the morning, you might be able to name birds hanging out in your backyard.
