Electric bikes are a popular option in town as they make it easier to manage Laguna’s hills. They are great for those who want an alternative mode of transportation, especially during the summer months when parking can be difficult to find. E-bikes are also a fun way to get some exercise with a little pedal assist on the steeper streets, they can reduce your carbon footprint and are suprisingly quiet.
There are three classes of electric bikes. With Class 1, there is no throttle. The harder you pedal, the faster you go. Even though the pedal assist makes cycling easier, you don’t have to use it if you want to get more of a workout. Class 2 has a throttle to help accelerate from a stopped position up to 12 mph. Class 3 can reach speeds up to 28 mph and is not allowed in bike lanes.
