No More Meat and Potatoes

Another one of PETA’s campaigns encourages people to dump meat: in favor of tofu. The Web site promoting this cause, MeatStinks.com, caught my attention. In particular, the campaign against McDonalds will shock you (hopefully into not eating hamburgers).
The campaign, called “McCruelty to go” shows a photo of a bloody cow’s head that has been cut off and is hanging from a hook. The caption reads, “Want fries to go with that?” PETA has written a letter to McDonalds stating ways that the company can stop cruelty to animals. This includes adding a vegetarian burger to the menu.
After looking at MeatStinks.com, the ham sandwich you packed for lunch might not look so tasty. I doubt most Americans would eat meat if they had to kill their own meat in order to do it. Most people probably wouldn’t want to get their hands bloody in order to chow down on a juicy steak.
Fashionable Fur Is Fatal
As if I haven’t already ruined your lunch, here’s just one more Web site for you. It’s called Fur Is Dead.com. We’ve all seen models wearing luxurious mink coats. Maybe even some of us have dreamed about owning one of those ourselves. But what I read on the Fur Is Dead Web site made me wonder why anyone would be so vain that they would want to brutally kill an innocent animal just to satisfy their fashion needs.
Next time you see a fur coat and notice how soft and glamorous it is, remember that an animal had to suffer to make that coat. According to the Fur Is Dead Web site, “Engine exhaust is not always 100 percent lethal, and some animals ‘wake up’ while being skinned.”
Can you imagine a more painful way to die? Hopefully the Internet wil! allow PETA to spread the word about animal rights through their Web sites.
